T-Maxxing Is Popular. And Dangerous.

The Functional Fitness Protocol is an integral part of our ongoing Wellness Management Program. It is not a standalone fitness or personal-training service.
For our wellness patients, structured exercise, physical capability, and long-term fitness are considered essential components of health management. The Functional Fitness Protocol is how we assess those areas, develop an individualized strategy, and provide the coaching and accountability necessary to carry that strategy forward.
Personalized Training. Structured Accountability. Integrated Wellness Care.
Physical fitness is not an optional part of long-term health. It is one of its foundations.
Our medical evaluation is designed to identify disease, recognize risk early, and address the factors that may threaten your health and longevity. But preventing disease is only the beginning. The next step is building the physical capacity to remain strong, mobile, metabolically healthy, and independent throughout life.
That is the purpose of our Functional Fitness Protocol.
Rather than simply giving you general exercise recommendations, we assess where you are today, identify your individual strengths and limitations, and build a structured fitness program around your body, your goals, and your lifestyle.
Exercise is essential to health and longevity, but the right exercise program is not the same for everyone.
Someone who needs to improve strength and lean muscle mass may require a very different program from someone whose primary limitation is aerobic fitness, mobility, body composition, or overall physical capacity.
That is why the Functional Fitness Protocol begins with an individualized assessment.
We look at where you are today, identify the areas that need the most attention, and build your training strategy around those findings. The result is not a generic exercise plan. It is a program designed specifically around your current abilities, limitations, goals, and long-term health needs.
“We determine what you need to improve and build the plan around it.”
Every patient begins by meeting individually with Christian Kruszewski, our Director of Fitness, for an approximately one-hour physical assessment.
Christian evaluates your current physical capabilities, including areas such as:
The purpose is not to compare you with someone else. It is to determine where you are now, where your greatest opportunities for improvement exist, and what training strategy makes sense for you.
Your fitness plan does not exist separately from your wellness plan.
After your assessment, Christian coordinates with your physician and, when appropriate, our exercise physiologist to develop your training strategy.
DEXA data can help identify lean-mass needs, body-fat distribution, and changes in body composition over time.
Christian’s assessment identifies strength, mobility, movement, and physical limitations that need to be addressed.
For patients who complete OptiFit physiologic testing, aerobic capacity, thresholds, heart-rate training zones, and other physiologic findings can further individualize the program.
A program only works if it can actually be followed. Your schedule, experience, preferences, limitations, and goals all matter.
Once your strategy is established, Christian builds your individualized workouts within our fitness app.
Your program is available directly on your phone, including your scheduled workouts, exercise instructions, and exercise library. You can record your training as you complete it, allowing your progress to remain visible rather than relying on memory or guesswork.
But the technology is only part of it.
Christian follows your progress, checks in with you, answers questions, and helps keep you accountable to the plan.
This is integrated with the rest of your ongoing wellness management. For patients completing regular clinic check-ins, exercise becomes part of the same continuing process in which we monitor your health, lifestyle, progress, and overall wellness strategy.
You are not simply handed a program and left to figure it out on your own.
You have someone following your progress, helping you stay consistent, and making adjustments as your needs change.
Fitness changes.
Your program should change with it.
Approximately every six months, you return to meet with Christian for another formal physical assessment. He reassesses your strength, mobility, movement, functional capacity, and areas of limitation and compares those findings with where you started.
Our team then uses that information to update your training priorities and modify your program.
Assess. Train. Measure Progress. Adjust. Repeat.
This process continues throughout your Wellness Management Program so that your fitness strategy evolves as you do.

It is an ongoing process of assessment, individualized programming, coaching, accountability, and reassessment, integrated with the rest of your medical and wellness management.
Our goal is straightforward:
Build the physical capacity to keep doing the things you want to do, for as long as possible.
