Dr. Piercecchi began his path, as a member of the elite United States Air Force Pararescue career field, where he was trained as a Paramedic and Special Operations combat medic. In 2006, Dr. Piercecchi received the Air Medal for his conduct in Operation Red Wings, the rescue mission that would later become the subject of the book and major film, “The Lone Survivor”. On July 2, 2005, while under enemy fire in Afghanistan, Dr. Piercecchi was part of the USAF Pararescue team who extracted a Navy Seal trapped in enemy territory. While completing his college degree, Dr. Piercecchi is also proud to have been selected as a Pat Tillman Foundation Scholar in the second class.
