OptiFit Performance Coaching

Men’s Wellness Experts in Tucson, Arizona

Stop Guessing. Start Training With Personalized Data.

Serious training deserves more than a generic workout plan.

OptiFit Performance Coaching combines advanced physiologic testing (VO₂, anaerobic and aerobic threshold, heart rate zones), comprehensive physical fitness assessment, individualized sport-specific strength programming, and ongoing performance coaching into one coordinated program.

Designed for cyclists, runners, triathletes, endurance athletes, and performance-focused individuals, the program is built around a simple principle:

Your training should be based on your physiology, your physical capabilities, and your goals. Instead of starting with generalized formulas and assumptions, we start by measuring how your body actually performs. Then we build your training around your strengths and weaknesses with your goals in mind.

One Athlete. One Integrated Performance Team.

Athletic performance depends on more than VO₂ max.

Your aerobic capacity matters. So do your thresholds, metabolic efficiency, strength, mobility, movement quality, training history, recovery, and individual goals.

That is why OptiFit Performance Coaching brings together two complementary areas of expertise.

Exercise Physiology & Performance Coaching

Ken, our exercise physiologist and multisport performance coach, analyzes your physiologic testing, establishes individualized training parameters, and builds your endurance training through the TrainingPeaks platform.

Strength, Mobility & Functional Performance

Christian, our personal trainer and strength coach, evaluates your strength, mobility, movement, physical function, and potential limitations, then develops an individualized strength and functional training program based on those findings.

Most importantly, they work together.

Your performance coach and strength coach coordinate your programming so that endurance, strength, mobility, and functional training all support the same performance goals.

Step 1: It Starts With Objective Performance Testing

Every OptiFit Performance Coaching program begins with our OptiFit Metabolic Exercise Analysis.

This advanced physiologic evaluation provides objective information about how your cardiovascular and metabolic systems respond as exercise intensity increases.

Depending on the testing protocol, your assessment evaluates:

  • VO₂ Max and Aerobic Capacity: Measure your maximal ability to consume and utilize oxygen during exercise.
  • Aerobic Threshold / VT1: Identify the physiologic transition that helps define sustainable endurance and lower-intensity aerobic training.
  • Anaerobic Threshold / VT2: Determine the upper threshold important for tempo, threshold, and higher-intensity training.
  • Individualized Heart-Rate Training Zones: Establish training intensities based on your measured physiology rather than generalized age-based formulas.
  • Peak Power or Running Velocity: Evaluate performance at maximal aerobic effort.
  • Fuel Utilization: Assess how your body uses carbohydrate and fat across increasing exercise intensities.
  • Exercise Caloric Expenditure: Measure energy expenditure as workload increases.
  • Pulmonary Function: Spirometry provides additional information about respiratory function and potential limitations to exercise performance.

The result is considerably more useful than simply knowing your VO₂ max.

It gives us a physiologic map from which to build your training.

Step 2: Your Physical Fitness & Functional Assessment

Your cardiovascular engine is only part of athletic performance.

Following your physiologic testing, you will complete a separate comprehensive fitness assessment with Christian, our personal trainer and strength coach.

The assessment evaluates areas such as:

  • Functional strength
  • Muscular performance
  • Mobility
  • Movement quality
  • Physical limitations
  • Areas of weakness or imbalance
  • Sport-specific physical demands

Those findings are then used to build an individualized strength, mobility, and functional fitness program appropriate for your current abilities and athletic goals.

For endurance athletes, this matters.

More mileage or more time on the bike is not always the answer. Deficiencies in strength, mobility, or movement can limit performance and affect how well you tolerate increasing training demands.

The goal is to build the physical foundation that supports your sport.

Step 3: Your Performance Consultation

Once your physiologic testing and physical assessment are complete, you will meet virtually with Ken, your performance coach.

He will review your testing in detail, including your aerobic capacity, thresholds, training zones, metabolic characteristics, and overall performance profile.

He will also incorporate the findings from Christian’s physical assessment into the larger training strategy.

You will understand:

  • Where your current fitness stands
  • Your major physiologic strengths and limitations
  • Your appropriate training intensities
  • Where endurance development should be prioritized
  • How strength and functional training fit into the program
  • How your training will be structured
  • What we are trying to improve and why

You are not simply handed a test report.

We turn the data into a training strategy.

Putting It All Together: Your TrainingPeaks Performance Program

Once your evaluations are complete, your individualized training program is built within TrainingPeaks.

Ken uses your physiologic testing, physical assessment, training history, current fitness, goals, schedule, and ongoing performance to develop and manage your training.

The program is built around the specific demands of your sport and where you are as an athlete today. Training priorities are adjusted based on your strengths, limitations, current level of conditioning, and the areas that offer the greatest opportunity for improvement.

As your fitness changes, the emphasis of the program changes with it. Workload, intensity, recovery, and training priorities are continually adjusted so that the program remains aligned with both your physiology and your goals.

This is not a prewritten training plan handed to you at the beginning of the program.

It is an individualized coaching process that evolves with your performance.

12-Month Performance Program

Best value for athletes committed to long-term performance development.

The annual program is not simply a longer version of the three-month option. It gives our team the opportunity to coach you across an entire year, reassess your physical development midway through the program, and adjust your training based on how your fitness and performance have actually changed.

At the six-month mark, you return to Christian for a second comprehensive physical fitness assessment. Christian reassesses strength, mobility, movement, functional performance, and any remaining limitations. Christian then updates your individualized strength and functional program based on your progress and current needs.

Those findings are reviewed with Ken and incorporated into the next phase of your TrainingPeaks programming, allowing both your endurance and strength training to evolve as your fitness changes.

In addition, three of your twelve months are included at no additional cost. You receive a full year of coaching but are only charged for nine months of it, making the year-long program the strongest overall value for athletes committed to sustained performance development.

Included:

Everything offered in the Performance Foundation, at no additional cost, plus:

  • 12 full months of individualized performance coaching, three of which are included at no additional cost
  • Ongoing TrainingPeaks programming throughout the year
  • Long-term training progression based on your goals and performance
  • Coordination of endurance and strength programming
  • Six-month comprehensive physical fitness reassessment
  • Repeat assessment of strength, mobility, movement, and functional performance
  • Updated personalized strength and functional fitness program
  • Collaboration between your performance coach and strength coach following reassessment
  • Integration of updated findings into your TrainingPeaks program

The result is not a program written once and left untouched.

Your training evolves as you do.

Annual Program: $3,000

The annual program is paid in full at enrollment and is non-refundable.

Why OptiFit Performance Coaching Is Different

Plenty of training plans are available online, and there are many excellent cycling, running, and triathlon coaches.

What is much harder to find is a program that brings together objective exercise physiology, physical performance assessment, individualized strength programming, and ongoing endurance coaching within one coordinated system.

Your performance coach understands your physiology.

Your strength coach understands how you move and where you need to become stronger.

And they work from the same information toward the same goals.

We don’t have to estimate your training zones when we can measure them.

We don’t have to guess where your physical limitations are when we can assess them.

And your endurance training does not have to exist separately from your strength and functional work.

The result is a program built around:

Your physiology.
Your physical capabilities.
Your sport.
Your goals.

That is personalized performance coaching.

Who Is This Program For?

OptiFit Performance Coaching is particularly suited for:

  • Cyclists
  • Runners
  • Triathletes
  • Masters athletes
  • Competitive endurance athletes
  • Athletes preparing for a major event or competition
  • Individuals returning to structured performance training
  • Serious recreational athletes seeking the next level of performance
  • Athletes frustrated by generic training programs or unexplained performance plateaus

You do not need to be a professional athlete.

You need to be someone who takes your performance seriously and wants a training program built around what your body can actually do.

Dr. Piercecchi and Dr. Monterrosa took my case after the first two doctors told me everything was fine. They looked at my case as a whole and made sure to get all the information. After over a year and a half, I finally have answers when other doctors told me nothing was wrong. I can’t thank them enough for everything they have done! If I could give 6 stars I would!”
